Our Current Work
As with any commercial district revitalization organization, Innovate Fulton, Inc. has assembled a comprehensive and optimistic set of work plans. However, we also understand the importance of phasing our work in order to efficiently and effectively reach our goals.
Design
In order to garner as much community input as possible, we felt that it was essential to engage an urban designer/architect with a specialty in commercial districts. We felt that by highlighting small incremental changes, the community would enjoy seeing what can be done in the short term and get a kick out of long‐term plans.
We hired Jodi Dubyoski of Form Coalition to come up with drawings for short term enhancements and then potential long‐term plans for the district. The idea is to engage the community and get as much input as possible. Jodi has immersed herself in the community and is hard at work on conceptual drawings
Special Event/FultonFest
Once the conceptual drawings are complete, we want to get them out into the community as quickly as possible. Rather than host some fancy cocktail party where city officials and downtown business leaders come by for a viewing, we decided a community street festival was the best way to draw attention to Jodi’s fine work.
Thus FultonFest was born‐‐‐well it will be on October 19th. The drawings will be on display at 5025 Government Road (corner of Williamsburg and Government), but much more will be happening. There will be music, food trucks, children’s activities, a beer garden, and street performers and entertainers.
We will ask people to vote on the drawings, but we want them to have fun, as well..
THOSE ARE OUR TWO BIG PROJECTS AT THIS JUNCTURE, BUT THERE IS MUCH MORE IN THE WORKS.
